Emerging R&B and soulful artist, Snoh Aalegra should be on your radar, and here’s why.

Born, Shahrzad Fooladi, Snoh signed an artist development deal with Sony Music Sweden at the age of 13. Although that deal didn’t work out, and no music came from it- Snoh would continue to hone in on her sound which eventually would reach the world.

It wasn’t until 2014 when Shahrzad debuted her new name “Snoh Aalegra.” She then got the attention of mainstream artist such as Common, RZA, Vince Staples and more.  On 11 February 2015, Aalegra released her first single as Snoh Aalegra, “Emotional”, produced by RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan.

She released her debut album Those Feels in 2017. A particular song on the album, “Time,” caught the attention of megastar, Drake, in which he sampled it on one of his mixtape’s. With Aalegra’s sultry and unique voice attached to the song, “Do Not Disturb”, fans immediately began to wonder who she was.

Snoh had already gained notoriety in Europe, but after her debut album, she began to make a name for herself in the U.S. She followed up with a continuation to her first album and released, Ugh, Those Feels Again, in August of 2019. The project is slated to be one of the best R&B albums of 2019.

In just 4 months, the album vastly became a fan favorite, and Snoh is notably a force to be reckoned with in the new sounds of R&B.

During an interview Snoh, 32, expresses she always had a love for music. “I just have this otherworldly love for music. I can’t even really explain it with words. It’s like a force that’s taken over me. There is nothing else I’ve wanted to do.”  She continues, “ I’ve always wanted to make music, ever since I was a kid. I fell in love with it early. I was super inspired by Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and a bunch of artists that I grew up listening to. I really had a strong connection to music and I’ve focused on it ever since.”
