Snoop Dogg recently shared a star-struck encounter with iconic actor Pam Grier during the filming of the 2001 movie Bones.
The West Coast rapper appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where he detailed how meeting Grier left him weak in the knees.
“We was doing a movie, Bones, right? And this is young Snoop. I’m young at the time, right?” Snoop explained to Hudson. “They tell me I got the role with Pam Grier. So, I’m like, ‘Oh alright, I got Pam Grier, that’s a…’ he added before breaking into a little dance.
“Catch the flight from Frisco to Vancouver. So, when I get to Frisco I’m sitting down and Pam Grier walk up and just sit right next to me and started talking to me.”
Recounting his reaction, Snoop confessed to fainting.
“My heart was beating fast, Jen,” he chuckled. “Jen, my heart was beating fast (da, da, da, da). So, I’m like, ‘I hear what you’re saying, Pam. Give me a minute.’ I go to the bathroom and faint.
“I fainted. I’m laying on the ground. My security come in they like ‘Get off this nasty floor, man. What is you doing?’ I’m like, I looked up I said: ‘Cuz, I just met Pam Grier.”
After composing himself, Snoop Dogg returned to his seat beside Grier, finding it challenging to maintain eye contact with her for the remainder of the flight.
“She broke me down. She gave me all the information that I needed as far as to like lose that. She gave me information on how to be a better actor, a better person, and how to receive people like this who you are infatuated with,” he explained.
“So, I thanked her for that and I believe I became a better actor after that. So, Pam, I love you for that. And I appreciate you,” he concluded.
Interestingly, this wasn’t the first collaboration between Grier and Snoop Dogg. In 1993, Grier appeared as her popularized character Foxy Brown in the music video for his “Doggy Dogg World” single.
The film Bones, directed by Ernest Dickerson, was initially considered a flop upon its release in 2001 but has since gained a cult following. It follows the story of Jimmy Bones (portrayed by Snoop Dogg), seeking revenge as a vengeful ghost two decades after his murder.
