Snoop Dogg’s life story will be hitting theaters next year.
According to Variety, “Snoop,” the biopic, is slated for release in the summer of 2027.
Universal Pictures has slated the film for an Aug. 6, 2027, theatrical release. It is currently set to open against Disney’s The Bluey Movie and Black Bear’s Jason Statham Stole My Bike.
Jonathan Daviss, star of “Outer Banks,” will play the titular role in “Snoop.” Universal describes the role as the “definitive biopic of the artist, mogul and icon of gangsta rap.”
Craig Brewer, who directed “Song Sung Blue” and “Hustle & Flow,” is directing the movie. The film will include music from the singer’s vast catalogue.
In 2022, Universal first announced the biopic. Snoop also shared at CinemaCon that production is expected to begin this summer.
“Snoop Dogg’s life and legacy make him one of the most exciting and influential icons in popular culture,” Donna Langley said when the project was announced. “We met with Snoop shortly after he acquired Death Row Records and had the opportunity to hear his story in his own words. We are humbled to be able to create the lasting document of this singular artist.”

His versatility has earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for co-headlining the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show, Sports Emmy Awards, an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Beyond his chart-topping music catalog, he acquired Death Row Records in 2022. And he maintains a massive global cultural footprint spanning acting, major broadcasting coverage, and business ventures.
