This is not okay.

A black 5thgrade student was seen on camera being attacked by 3 white students, and social media users wants the Florida School District to speak up. The young student was seen getting jumped by the three young boys, in the schools gym locker room.

The incident took place last week, and the video has since gone viral. Now, as expected the video has outraged many of people and a call to action is being issued. Aside from the school not disciplining the students, according to reports- the family of the student says a teacher was present in the locker room and did not do enough to protect him.

“I mean not only was I disturbed, but I was enraged. It is so hard to watch” said Lauren Springfield, the boy’s mother.

“You get the videos and you’re like, ‘Well this is way more!’ This is not an altercation, it is not a fight between two or more people, this was an attack,” Springfield said.

One of the students was charged with a misdemeanor, and suspended for 10 days.

“We learned that the teacher was actually in the locker room and I don’t understand that. How can you be in the locker room in your office, hear this going on, and you just tell the kids to chill out? You never once get up in the span of four minutes to go and check on the child? I don’t understand that,” Springfield said.

The teacher present is reportedly being investigated. You can hear the teacher telling the student to stop fighting, but for Springfield states, that simply was not enough.

“Your number one priority is the safety of your students. Originally I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt because I’ve been a teacher, but then to know that he was right there and couldn’t stop it. I mean we could be having such a different conversation right now. Had he hit his head harder, had the right punch been thrown he could’ve had permanent damage. He could’ve been dead,” Springfield said.

Springfield said she’s fighting for justice so that this won’t happen to anyone else’s child.

“I want justice for my son. I want the punishments to actually match the severity of what happened,” Springfield said.

1 week ago in Florida 3 white students brutally assaulted my friend @iamkingsprings son. The school board is not taking them seriously so we’re going to kick this up a notch. They need to feel this pressure. During school hours CALL (863) 534-0521 Repost from my friend @iamkingsprings ・・・ Facebook/IG finds it fit to side with the school board by constantly deleting my post, no worries I won’t stop. Please share repost it. #wewontbesilenced Tomorrow will be one week since my child was bullied, attacked and beaten. We still have yet to receive a safety plan on how school leaders plan to keep our child safe as he receives his education ( a safety plan should be pretty standard at this point for schools). Being that school leadership worked hard to keep the video off Facebook and to conduct a press conference and to educate the students on cell phone procedures following the attack (instead of emotional and social education/bullying code of conduct review etc.) you would think they would work equally as hard to protect our child. Sadly and to no surprise, at this point, that is not their goal. Their goal instead is self preservation as they try to get in front of the media stories and cover up not only the severity of the attack but also what actually took place. If you look closely in the video, my son was holding onto the bench as he was pulled by 3 students, 2 of which had him in headlocks, once getting him away from the bench one proceeded to corner him and hold him as the main attacker began to knee our child. News media have stated the attack lasted until 2 students broke it up but in fact we have additional videos that show otherwise. The students stopped when they felt like stopping, there was no dramatic rescue simply shown by the fact that for the majority of the video all you see the students doing is laughing, smiling and tying their shoes will smiling. We will not be silent about this situation and we ask that you all download and share this video as much as possible until true justice and resolve happens. If you are in Florida we invite you to tomorrow’s school board meeting in Bartow at 5 PM – you can find more information on my wife’s page
