Hugh Douglas Jr., son of former Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets Pro Bowl defensive end Hugh Douglas died alongside his college roommate in a car crash in Georgia.
Hugh Douglas Jr., 20, and Christion Files Jr., also 20, were pronounced dead after their vehicle crashed head-on into a utility pole and flipped over.
“Morehouse mourns the loss of Hugh Douglas ’25 and Christion Files Jr. ’25, who were involved in a devastating car accident that resulted in their untimely passing on Monday afternoon. Hugh and Christion were not just friends but also roommates during their sophomore year, and their loss is deeply felt by all of us in the Morehouse family,” read a message on the official Morehouse Facebook page.
“Hugh Douglas was an exceptional student who displayed immense dedication and promise in pursuing a business administration degree with a concentration in finance.” The message shared more of Douglas Jr.’s accomplishment, “He was a member of the Morehouse Business Association, an AltFinance Fellow, and a Goldman Sachs Fellow, demonstrating his commitment to excellence in his field.”
The post described Christion Files Jr. as a leader who served as the co-captain of the Morehouse Track & Field team, media chair for the Junior Class Council, and as a dedicated member of the Morehouse Business Association.
The homegoing service will take place Saturday, September 16 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.
His father is a host on radio station 94WIP, who shared their condolences Tuesday morning.
