In a candid revelation, Spectacular Smith, co-founder of the R&B group Pretty Ricky, announced that the band is now operating as a trio. This change follows fellow member Corey “Slick’em” Mathis’s refusal to enter rehabilitation for substance abuse.

“We tried everything to help Slick’em,” Spectacular shared during a recent interview. “But ultimately, he chose not to accept the support he needed.”

Struggles Behind the Scenes

The group’s internal challenges came to light when Marcus “Pleasure P” Cooper expressed concern over Slick’em’s well-being. “They got one of my brothers on heroin,” Pleasure P revealed on Instagram. “I don’t want to talk his business, but I miss him, and I wish I could talk to Slick’em.”

Pleasure P further lamented the group’s fragmentation, stating, “They got fired. And we all came up together. So, if we’re not working together, then what are we talking about?”

Despite these issues, the remaining members—Spectacular, Pleasure P, and Diamond “Baby Blue” Smith—are committed to continuing as a trio. “We have to keep moving forward,” Spectacular emphasized.

A Legacy Continues

Pretty Ricky rose to fame in the mid-2000s with hits like “Grind With Me” and “On the Hotline.” The group, originally consisting of brothers Spectacular and Baby Blue, their cousin Slick’em, and friend Pleasure P, became known for their blend of R&B and hip-hop.

In 2023, Baby Blue was released from prison after serving time for a $24 million PPP loan fraud conviction. His return was marked by a heartfelt reunion with his bandmates.

As they navigate this new chapter, the trio remains focused on their music and legacy. “Our bond is strong, and our fans deserve the best of us,” Spectacular concluded.
