New York’s Gov. Cuomo’s ‘PAUSE’ order is set to expire on Friday, May 15th.
According to the Governor, three regions including Mohawk Valley, the Southern Tier, and Finger Lakes have met his “phase 1” criteria for reopening.
Cuomo stated that “A new chapter starts today, This is the next big step of this historic journey.”
While some regions are said to be ready for reopening today, Cuomo says logistics need to be finalized by Friday before they proceed.
New York City, and Long Island have reportedly made progress, nonetheless Cuomo says neither region is ready by his standards as of yet. The standards are based on two core factors, which include infection rate and capacity.
The regions that can prove they have controlled their infection rates, and have established a smooth routine of testing, tracing, isolation etc… in case of potential resurgence can enter the first phase of reopening.
Stay tuned as more details develop!
