Stephen A. Smith comes to the defense of the rappers who performed at Donald Trump’s Inauguration.
After rappers, Rick Ross, Soulja Boy, Nelly, and Snoop Dogg, received heavy criticism for their decision to perform at the inauguration, the “First Take” host shared his point-of-view on why they decided to accept the invitation to perform.
“Soulja Boy ain’t got no right to go make some money?” he asked. “Snoop Dogg worth over $100 million. He got a youth football league. This brother sending cats to college, he sending cats to the NFL, we just gon’ ignore that? Because he performed at the inauguration?”
During his rant, Smith also called out the people who went against Ice Cube leading up to the 2020 presidential election. It was around the time he revealed he spoke to Trump about his plan for Black citizens. Smith said that the criticism that the rapper received with “unforgiveable.”
“Now that the brothers come along and they make something of themselves and they got opportunities that they’re willing to exploit and they choose to be apolitical, you wanna get in their ass?!”, he continued.
