Sterling K. Brown says that he is an exhibitionist.
The acclaimed actress who stars in Hulu’s new political thriller, Paradise, playing Secret Service Agent Xavier Collins, who becomes the leading suspect in an investigation into the assassination of President Cal Bradford (James Marsden). In episode three of the series (Spoiler Alert), Brown has a scene where he is in nothing but his birthday suit.
In an interview with PEOPLE that he’s most comfortable in the nude and wasn’t nervous at all.
“Is it hard? No. Why? Because I am actually an exhibitionist,” he admits. “My wife is like, ‘Will you please put some clothes on?’ I said, ‘Only if I have to.’ So I really don’t care. It doesn’t phase me in the least.”
Brown did admit that his PR rep gets nervous about his affinity for nudity
“As a matter of fact, my publicist’s more than likely [to say something],” he continued. “Every time something happens, he’s like, ‘Could you not show people your body? Could you not do that? Because that’s what people talk about.”
According to Brown, as long as he is looking good, he’ll always be showing off his body.
“I was like, ‘I’m 48 years old. When I turn 50, I’m going to Sally O’Malley,” he said, referring to Molly Shannon’s character on Saturday Night Live.
“I’m going to kick, I’m going to stretch, and I’m going to kick again because I’m 50, doggone it,” he added “And hopefully people will still want to see it. They may not. I don’t know. We’ll see. But I got two more years. I’ll let you know when it happens.”
When it comes to his wife Ryan Michelle Bathe, she is not as carefree as he is.
“She’s not an exhibitionist. She goes to bed in a full robe. It’s very hard to get the party started,” he laughed.
Anytime there is a scene that requires nudity, Brown says always discusses it with Ryan first.
“I’m her man. We have open dialogues about it. I was like, ‘Yo, this scene is coming up. Da-da-da. Do you want to see it before it comes out?’ And she’s like, ‘Nope, I’m good,” Brown explained. “I know you have to do it. I don’t actually have to watch it.’ I said, ‘Fair enough. However, you make it through is totally fine.”
Paradise airs on Tuesdays on Hulu.
