Empire actor Jussie Smollett was viciously attacked by two masked men in Chicago early this morning (Jan. 29), and is now recovering after being discharged from the Chi’s Northern Memorial Hospital.

TMZ reports the 35-year-old California native arrived in Chicago late Monday night (Jan. 28), and hit the food chain to get a bite to eat around 2:00 AM. When Smollett left Subway, one of the two men screamed, “Aren’t you that f----t Empire n---a?”

Jussie went on to fight his attackers – both white men – as they brutally beat him on the street.

According to the media outlet, Smollett’s attackers put a noose around his neck, poured bleach all over him, and left him with a fractured rib as they yelled, “This is MAGA country.”

Chicago police are treating the incident as a possible hate crime, but currently investigating as a battery case.

TheGrapeJuice.Net reports Smollett received a threatening letter eight days ago when an envelope arrived with a child-like drawing and cut-out words that read, “You will die Black f--.”
