It’s been four days since Beyoncé’s VOGUE cover hit stands, and the beyhive can’t stop talking about it. Bey’s elegance, beauty, and insight captivated the nation Monday morning – not to mention this issue is historic on every level. But what fans don’t know is the king herself was actually the high-profile fashion mag’s second choice for the cover of its coveted September issue. And we bet you can't you guess the original pick?

According to Radar Online’s celebrity gossip podcast, Straight Shuter: Naughty But Nice, Beyonce was Anna Wintour’s second choice after Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle passed on the shoot.

A source spoke to Radar’s Rob Shuter, and said, “Bey had no idea that she was the second choice for the issue.” And went on to say that everyone at Conde Nast – VOGUE’s publishing house – started gossiping as soon as Markle “passed.”

The new duchess allegedly would have been open to gracing the magazine’s cover if it happened before this year’s royal wedding. But now that the actress has joined a long list of royal heirs, she has yet to sit down for an intimate interview or pose for a solo shoot.

Radar Online says friends of Markle told Straight Shuter that she was “was interested in the entertainment industry from a very young age….as a teen, the star loved fashion and beauty, and would’ve killed to be featured on American VOGUE before the married Harry.”
