Real friends are hard to find, just ask Kanye West.

According to TMZ, Kanye fell victim of identity fraud after a “former friend” contacted German designer Phillip Plein to book the G.O.O.D. Music mogul a New Fashion Week event next Monday (Feb. 11).

The person responsible for reaching out to Plein has yet to be identified, but it’s known that he represented himself as Kanye’s rep and began negotiations for the Chi-town native to perform during the event.

The mystery friend received a $900,000 wire advance, and “promptly cleaned [it] out.”

Needless to say, Kanye will not be appearing at the NYFW event.

Plein has yet to comment, but lawsuits are sure to come.
