Lee Daniels says he’s been in his “feelings” over the Jussie Smollett scandal, and things have been hard to deal with.
The Philadelphia-born film and television producer jumped on Instagram Wednesday night (before the mid-season premieres of Star and Empire) to express the “pain and anger” he and his cast have experienced since the Chicago Police Department hit Smollett with 16 felony charges.
“These past couple of weeks have been a freaking roller coaster. Me and my cast have experienced pain and anger and sadness and frustration and really don’t know how to deal with it,” Daniels told his 664,000 followers after a 30-day-plus social media hiatus.
“The show was made to bring America together – to talk about the atrocities going on in the streets,” and not to create more tension in an already racially divided country.
Smollett returns to court Apr. 17.
