Nick Cannon joined the hundreds of thousands of speaking up and supporting Nike after they announced Colin Kaepernick as the face of its 30th anniversary Just Do It campaign.
The company unveiled Kaepernick as the poster boy for its anniversary campaign earlier this week. Kaep and Nike both received relentless social media praise, but just as many negative reactions surfaced as well.
Conservatives jumped out the shadows, urging people to burn their Nike socks and products in an effort to send a message to the athletic brand that an “unpatriotic” Black man should never represent a hero in this country.
Since the Kaep announcement, Nike has raked in an estimated $43 million from a supportive public – and a portion of those profits came from Nick Cannon.
Cannon hit a Nike store Wednesday and uploaded a video of himself perusing through the store’s sock section. Then he surprised us all when we heard him say, “Nike socks…I’m about to buy all of these.”
To reiterate how supportive many Americans are about Nike decision to enlist Kaepernick, one IG user named @morenito.papi commented, “Nike just supported Kaepernick who stood up for the whole community and risked everything he had going to do so the white people don't want anything to do with Nike because of this also Serena Williams was just disrespected banned from cat suit the first company the support her was NIKE out of respect we all should support Nike they support us. #StayWoke”
