Suge Knight Claims Tupac Slapped Snoop Dogg After 1996 VMAs

Suge Knight has claimed that 2Pac and Snoop Dogg had a heated altercation shortly before 2Pac’s death, sparked by a radio interview. In a recent conversation with The Art of Dialogue, the former Death Row Records CEO recalled an intense moment between the two rap icons after the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards.

According to Knight, tensions flared after 2Pac heard Snoop express a willingness to collaborate with Biggie and Diddy—his biggest rivals at the time. “Fast forward, we’re back at the hotel. Everyone’s in their rooms,” Knight recalled. “I had a special room, and only Pac knew the number. I’m in there with company, just chilling, and then—bam!—someone’s banging on the door. I throw on my boxers, open it up, and Pac rushes in. He’s all worked up, asking if I have a radio. He turns it on, and we hear Snoop talking.”

Snoop’s comments sent 2Pac into a fury. “Snoop’s on the radio saying Pac’s on some bullsht,” Knight said. “That he’d do a song with Biggie, do a song with Puffy, work with whoever. Pac was livid because he loved those guys. He always stood by them. He said, ‘Man, I put everybody on Death Row. I put everyone on my album. And now this dude gets on the radio and says f** me? He’s riding with them now? It’s on.’”

Knight assumed the situation would cool down overnight, but the next morning, 2Pac took action. “When we got downstairs, Pac went after Snoop,” he revealed. “Pac ran up, Snoop ran the other way, and I had to step in. I stopped him. I told him, ‘We’re not about to act like fools in New York. We’ll deal with this when we get home.’”

This isn’t the only rumored fight involving 2Pac that has surfaced recently. In an episode of The Untold, a series uncovering behind-the-scenes industry stories, comedian Tommy Too Smooth shared another alleged confrontation—this time involving 2Pac and Michael Jackson.

According to Tommy, the incident happened while 2Pac was dating Kidada Jones, daughter of music legend Quincy Jones. The couple attended an event where Michael Jackson was present, and the pop star was reportedly unsettled by 2Pac’s behavior toward Kidada.

“2Pac was out partying, disrespecting Kidada, yelling at her, telling her to shut up,” Tommy claimed. “Michael stepped in and said, ‘Yo, you can’t talk to her like that.’”
