Suge Knight Questions Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Ownership

LOS ANGELES, CA - MARCH 09: Marion "Suge" Knight appears for a hearing at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center March 9, 2015 in Los Angeles, California. The hearing was scheduled to determine if the two criminal cases against Knight, one for murder and attempted murder when Knight allegedly ran over two men in a Compton parking lot after an argument and another case involving an alleged robbery and criminal threats to a photographer in Beverly Hills, should be moved to the downtown Los Angeles courthouse.

Suge Knight is firing back at Snoop Dogg after claiming the Death Row co-founder is “mad” that he now owns the label.

Calling into The Art of Dialogue, Knight responded by doubting if  Snoop really owns the label.

“Snoop, you said I’m mad because you bought Death Row. What you buy? Shut me up. Show me where y’all paid the money to buy it,” Knight argued. “Show me the paperwork—show me what you own.”

Knight went on to share his resume of success including Tha Dogg Pound’s No. 1 debut album, 1995’s Dogg Food. W.A.W.G (We All We Got), The Dogg Pound’s latest album, which was released in 2024, was a failure according to Knight.

“You’re trying to create something that Suge Knight created but instead of making something big you disappointed the world by making everything flops,” Knight said. “When I put out Tha Dogg Pound, they sold records. You put out Tha Dogg Pound, they sold nothing—it flopped.”

Knight also claims that he’s “destroying” the credibility of Death Row.

“You don’t got to talk tough. We don’t got to talk about each other—that gets [us] nowhere,” Knight explained. “One person or three or four people is not bigger than hip-hop. We should be trying to figure out how to make hip-hop better. Everybody destroying hip-hop; you guys are making it worse.”

In February 2022, Snoop Dogg acquired the Death Row Records brand from MNRK Music Group.

“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” Snoop said in a statement at that time.

“It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members,” he added.
