Swizz Beatz, the legendary rapper and producer, is gearing up to launch the highly anticipated AlUla on Wheels II. The immersive skating rink and art exhibit set to return to the heart of AlUla, Saudi Arabia on January 25, 2024. The event, titled “AlJadidah Time Machine,” promises a unique blend of music, art, and nostalgia.
Originally introduced as a pop-up during the previous AlUla Wellness Season, AlUla on Wheels II is set to have a more permanent residence in the AlJadidah Arts District, spanning three years.
Swizz Beatz, a Bronx native, expressed his admiration for the evolving and inventive culture in Saudi Arabia, stating in a press release, “What we’ve planned this year stretches the boundaries of music and art and proves that creativity flows seamlessly around the world.”
Designed by KeyConcept, a Dubai and Riyadh-based design firm, the roller skating environment will transport patrons through three epochs of time using skate and music genres such as Hip-Hop, reggaeton, and dance. The experience will feature arcade games, including Pac-Man and pinball, and a bubble tunnel guiding visitors through the history of AlJadidah from the golden era of skate to the year 2030 and beyond.
Noor Taher of Good Intentions highlighted the emphasis on community, culture, and movement through time.
“We wanted a truly curated destination featuring mesmerizing lights, colors, and design,” he explained.
The re-imagined AlUla on Wheels, labeled as the first skating rink in the Kingdom, boasts a year-round residency with multiple programs. The “AlJadidah Time Machine” concept will take participants on a journey through the 70s, 90s, and the future, blending nostalgia and cultural resonance. The roller rink, curated by Swizz Beatz’s Good Intentions, will reopen on January 25 and run until April 27, offering non-stop fun from 6:30 pm to midnight on most nights.
