Super-producer Swizz Beatz has given his wife, Alicia Keys, a high honor, calling her the “female Dr. Dre.” The praise came as he shared a clip of Keys producing an unreleased track for rapper Meek Mill.
“Lost files @meekmill produced by @aliciakeys! Can’t lie, AK produce like any heavy producer,” Swizz wrote in an Instagram post on November 20. “Female @drdre to be exact! Let’s get back to the pain and passion. Should this song drop? The finished version is crazy.”
The video, which offers fans a rare glimpse into Keys’ process, shows her skillfully playing piano while Meek Mill records his verse.
Alicia Keys is a Multitalented Force
This isn’t the first time Keys has shown her musical versatility. Known for her songwriting, singing, and piano mastery, Keys is also no stranger to production. Swizz’s comparison to Dr. Dre highlights her ability to match the impact of some of music’s greatest innovators.
Keys’ talents extend well beyond music. Last year, she trademarked “Alicia Teas,” a brand inspired by a custom tea gift from Swizz. “Happy birthday, baby! We got endless teas, and soon everybody at Starbucks around the world is gonna see Alicia Teas,” Swizz once shared in a celebratory video.
In addition to tea, Keys launched her Keys Soulcare skincare line, inspired by her own journey with self-care and wellness. Together with Swizz, she also co-authored Giants: Art from the Dean Collection, a coffee table book celebrating their expansive art collection. “People call us Black collectors, but we’re art collectors who happen to be Black,” the couple explained. “We double down on artists of color because our community wasn’t collecting these giants.”
Broadway and Beyond
Recently, Keys expanded her creative ventures to Broadway. Her musical, Hell’s Kitchen, explores a young woman’s journey of self-discovery through music. Speaking about the production, Keys said, “The characters are inspired by the city and my experiences. It’s art imitating life in a way that truly connects.”
As Swizz Beatz’s declaration suggests, Alicia Keys continues to prove she’s a powerhouse across genres and industries. Whether in the studio, on Broadway, or beyond, her influence only grows.
