Singer SZA has publicly voiced her support for fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion, denouncing the persistent criticism and harassment Megan faces following the 2020 shooting incident involving rapper Tory Lanez. Lanez was convicted in December 2022 for shooting Megan and is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence.

In response to renewed claims from Lanez’s legal team suggesting new exonerating evidence, SZA expressed her dismay over the continued public bullying of Megan. “I’m so shocked that people continue to publicly bully someone who was proven in court to be the victim,” SZA stated.

Megan Thee Stallion Addresses Renewed Allegations

Megan Thee Stallion has also spoken out against the resurfacing allegations. In a recent TikTok post, she reaffirmed that Lanez shot her and criticized the ongoing misinformation campaign. “There is no new evidence. He shot me. The facts were confirmed in court,” Megan asserted.

Her attorney, Alex Spiro, emphasized that the case was thoroughly adjudicated, describing it as a straightforward matter of violent assault rather than political controversy.

Calls for Lanez’s Clemency Spark Backlash

The controversy has been further fueled by public figures, including rapper Drake, who have called for Lanez’s pardon following his recent stabbing in prison. Drake shared a petition urging California Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon Lanez, citing alleged prosecutorial misconduct and missing forensic evidence.

Megan has vehemently rejected these calls, expressing frustration over continued efforts to discredit her. She criticized Lanez and his supporters for forcing her to relive the traumatic experience through constant misinformation and harassment.

SZA’s Continued Support

SZA’s recent comments are not her first show of support for Megan. In January 2023, she posted on her Instagram Story, “Just wanted to give some love to Meg. You’re beautiful, and we’re all rooting for you.”

The ongoing support from peers like SZA highlights the importance of standing against the harassment and misinformation that survivors of violence often face.

As the conversation continues, Megan Thee Stallion remains steadfast in her pursuit of justice and healing.
