SZA is set to be honored at the 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The singer will receive the Hal David Starlight Award making her the second Black woman to do so after Alicia Keys back in 2005. The Awards dinner will take place on Thursday, June 13, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
The announcement states that this award, “is presented to gifted young songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry with their original songs.” Nile Rodgers, the Chairman of the SHOF said in the release about SZA’s honor, “This is such an exciting time for songwriters and music. Phenomenal artists like Beyonce and Taylor Swift are pushing the envelope of what success looks like but who could argue that the last 2 years belong to SZA? Incredible songwriting, incredible performances, incredible artistry. She so deserves to be the 2024 recipient of the Hal David Starlight Award!”
Throughout her career, SZA has won over 40 awards including Grammys, BET Awards, Soul Train Awards, NAACP Image Awards, and more. Congratulations to SZA.
