SZA will be taking the stage at this year’s Grammy Awards.
This will be the singer’s second performance at the award show and her first performance in six years. SZA takes the lead after being nominated for nine awards. Her second album SOS held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 charts for 10 weeks.
Her album has been nominated for Album of the Year and Progressive R&B Album of the Year. Her single “Kill Bill”, is up for Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance, and Record of the Year. Other songs from her album that are nominated for a Grammy are “Snooze,” “Love Language,” and “Low” for Best R&B Song, Best Traditional R&B Performance, and Best Melodic Rap Performance.
Throughout her career, SZA has been nominated for 24 Grammys, however, her only Grammy win is for her collaboration with Doja Cat on the song, “Kiss Me More.” SZA has been vocal about losing in the past.
“I’ve lost enough times to know that investing in this moment is not wise,” SZA shared. “And not because it’s not important — I’m so happy for it — but because you have to place your importance on who you are as an artist and as a person. It’s my first time being this popular, and I saw a huge uptick in negativity at the exact same time.”
The Grammy Awards will air on Sunday, Feb.4 at 8 pm on CBS.
