Taraji P. Henson has been announced as the host of the 2022 BET Awards, which will be her second time hosting culture’s biggest night in entertainment.
The award-winning actress said in a statement, “I am honored to return as the host of the BET Awards and share the stage with so many powerful and prolific artists; you can even say it is the ‘empire’ of Black Excellence.”
She added, “Working with amazing partners like Scott and Connie at BET and Jesse Collins Entertainment is a creative’s dream. I can’t wait to celebrate Black music, entertainment, and culture with our viewers on what will be one unforgettable night.”
This news comes after Henson’s company TPH Entertainment landed an overall deal with BET Studios which launched a studio venture in September 2021 backed by the financing of BET and Paramount to produce original content for numerous inside buyers including SHOWTIME, CBS, Nickelodeon, BET+, Paramount+, and BET.
The BET Awards will air on Sunday, June 26th at 8 pm.
