Teyana Taylor was overcome with emotion following the news of her first Grammy nomination.
Taylor’s latest album, Escape Room, was nominated for Best R&B album, garnering critical acclaim since its release.
Taking to Instagram, Taylor spoke about the power of faith and encouraged her followers to never give up.
“Two decades of chapter. Highs, heartbreaks, reinvention, revelation, rooms I prayed to enter, rooms I had to walk away from, and rooms I had to build myself. Every tear, every closed door, and every whispered prayer at 3 am in the studio,” Taylor said. “Every moment I wondered if what I carried would ever be seen… It all mattered.”
Taylor continued: “To finally receive my first GRAMMY nomination after 20 yearsssssss, whew, my heart can barely hold the gratitude, to be seen this way, to be acknowledged for something I created from pure truth and obedience. It feels like God saying, “I never forgot you.”
Taylor went on to thank her family, label, and “day-ones” for all their support.
“To my family, my team, my label, my day-one supporters & my prayer warriors. You held space for me when I couldn’t hold space for myself,” she said. “And believed in me when I was tired…when I was empty… when I was ready to let music go.”
Along with her Grammy nomination, Taylor is receiving serious Oscar consideration for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in One Battle After Another.” In the film, she co-stars with Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall, and Chase Infiniti.
Tayloe spoke about her hopes of winning the Best Supporting Actress trophy with The Hollywood Reporter.
“You can see my patience being in this game since I was 15, doing a little bit of everything,” Taylor said. “This moment hits a lot harder than it would’ve if everything had gone my way when I wanted it to.”
