Teyana Taylor has responded to criticism of her reaction to not winning an Oscar on Sunday night.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Taylor quote-tweeted a post showing the moment when Amy Madigan won the award. The user wrote  that “something was off” with Taylor’s reaction.

“The world holds so much misery that miserable hearts forget the face of happiness,”Taylor wrote. “They grow comfortable being sore losers, so when they see real sportsmanship, it unsettles them! like holy water touching a demon.”

She added,“Because clapping for someone else’s victory requires something many people never learned … how to win with grace & pure joy, and how to lose with grace, chin up & dignity.”

Taylor retweeted another post where a user came to her defense.

“People really watched Teyana Taylor enjoy herself all throughout award season and decided that was embarrassing,” the post read. “I’m sorry she didn’t sit there looking miserable.”

Although she didn’t win the coveted Oscar, Taylor did take home her first Golden Globe for her performance in One Battle After Another.

“To my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a liability,” Taylor said during her acceptance speech. “Our depth is not too much. And our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space.”

She went on to shout out her children, who were staying up past their bedtime.

“My babies — they’re upstairs watching. Y’all better be off them damn phones and watching me right now!”

Taylor also thanked director Thomas Anderson, who cast her in the role.“Thank you for your vision, your trust, and your brilliance,” she said. “My gratitude is endless. I love you, we love you, and thank you so much for holding space for me and our entire cast.”
