The cast of Family Matters has fans concerned for Jaleel White after they shared their love and support for the actor.
During an appearance at 90s Con in Tampa, Florida, the cast except for White was in attendance, which led fans to believe that there was some tension between him and his former co-stars.
In an interview at the event, they seemingly addressed White’s absence. Reginald VelJohnson, who played Carl Winslow on the show said, “I love you Jaleel. You’re wonderful. Sorry you’re not here. I miss you.”
JoMarie Payton, who played Harriette Winslow, said, “You know what baby, I still love you… we grow, we learn, we change. You know what I’m saying.”
She continued, “And we get it. We get a little more accepting of life and everything and all. And I would like to say, if you were here and I could hug you, I would.”
The actress added, “Cause I don’t want you to hold anything either. I still love you. I still see you as that little boy that you were at 12 years old when you came to this show.”
This statement comes after the actress recalled the time that White, who played the nerdy Steve Urkel on the show, wanted to fight her.
Kellie Shanygne Williams, who played Urkel’s crush turned love interest, Laura Winslow, said “I mean, he knows, I talk to him. So Jaleel knows I love his crazy butt.”
In a previous interview, Jaleel White claimed that he wasn’t welcomed by the cast when he was on the show. “I didn’t see how I was stepping on anybody’s toes, I was taking anybody’s shine. It’s very important that I say this: I was not very well welcomed to the cast at all, okay?,” he said.
He continued, “And I don’t need to rehash that with the adults over and over again. They know what it is.”
