The Seattle Seahawks put on a dominant display, defeating the New England Patriots 29–13 in Super Bowl XL on February 8, 2026.
In a defensive masterclass held at Levi’s Stadium, Seahawks’ kicker Jason Myers set a record by converting five field goals.
This win marked the franchise’s second title, coming exactly 12 years after winning Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014.
Kenneth Walker III Was Named The MVP Of Super Bowl LX
Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III was named MVP of Super Bowl LX. He posted 161 yards, becoming the first running back to win the award since 1998. Terrell Davis was the last RB to win the trophy. Throughout the playoffs, Walker ran for over 100 yards from scrimmage in all three of Seattle’s playoff games.
”We went through a lot of adversity this season. But we came together, and we stuck together,” Walker said after the game.
After being regarded as a draft bust, Sam Darnold had an amazing postseason, silencing his doubters.
“It’s unbelievable, you know, just everything that’s happened in my career. But to do it with this team, I wouldn’t want it any other way,” Darnold said. “…Our defense, I can’t say enough great things about our defense, our special teams.”
Mike Macdonald Wins His First Super Bowl
Seahawks’ head coach, Mike Macdonald, almost made the playoffs last season with a 10-7 record. This year, he finished the job.
“I think that’s been an edge for us all season,” Macdonald said. “Every time we’ve gone into a new experience together, knowing that we have principles that we want to abide by. Those are kind of our guiding lights in terms of how we want to operate and make our decisions. At some point, you’re going to get distracted. And that’s OK. But it’s about how relentless we can be in coming back to center, back to being in this moment.”
The Seattle defense held the New England offense to 6-for-15 on third downs, 331 total yards, and 79 rushing yards. Also, they registered 6 sacks for a total loss of 43 yards against Drake Maye.
”You talk about a group of guys who battle every day. Who believe in each other, believe in their coach,” star cornerback Devon Witherspoon told NBC after the game. “I mean, you can’t describe this group any better. It’s just a one-of-a kind feeling.”
