2018 was a year for the books.
From the release of Black Panther and its historic records to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, there was a lot to celebrate around the world. But for every great moment, there was a tragic one to match.
The music community mourned when Bad Boy Records announced the passing of the famed Craig Mack. People around the globe united to pay their respects to the great South African freedom fighter Winnie Mandela. Hearts dropped when Eric Garner’s daughter, Erica Garner passed away from a heart attack. Communities fell short of breath when Aretha Franklin’s Estate confirmed that the Queen of Soul died after years of battling a bevy of health issues.
Many continued to cry as the loss of famed actor Burt Reynolds; Austin Powers’ mini me, Verne Troyer; the Jackson family patriarch, Joe Jackson; First Miss Black Texas, Chelsi Smith; the Reverend Billy Graham; Marvel Comics creator, Stan Lee; and so many more were announced.
As we continue to remember those we lost in 2018, the Steve Harvey Morning Show’s Ann Tripp recaps a year that communities across the world will never forget.
