The Essence Fest is put together by Essence magazine, a 100 percent black-owned company! It’s more than an “event,” it’s a “party with a purpose!”

This year, the magazine celebrated its 25th year of the annual music festival. It’s one of the largest events geared toward African-American women, but men, children, and people of all races are welcomed! The event celebrates all aspects of black culture, from food, music, health, hair, beauty, finance, entrepreneurship, and more.

The four-day event kicks off every July 4th-7th. It was held in New Orleans at the Mercedes Benz Superdome where thousands of people took part in hundreds of activities. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to experience everything the Essence Fest has to offer because there is so much going on at once.

It was an extraordinary line up this year, take a look at what you missed:

The biggest moment was our forever First Lady, Michelle Obama being in attendance. She kept it all the way real and talked about the challenges she faced while being in the White House, her issues with Barrack Obama, and her future plans. She even gave some good relationship advice, it almost felt like a girl chat or talking to a big sister or aunty. Check it out:

For the first time ever, Essence Fest had a female-led “Radio Row,” hosted by the leading ladies on air. Our radio love Deja Vu was on it and did exclusive interviews with all of your favorite celebrities like LaLa, Letoya Luckett, the cast of Power, as well as 2020 presidential candidate Cory Booker. Deja, along with several other radio DJ’s from across the United States where honored for their work in radio! Take a peek at some of the highlights:
