cThe White House will resume efforts to put some respect on Harriet Tubman’s name.
When President Obama was in office, his administration launched the effort to have the image of the chain breaking, abolitionist placed on the $20 greenback. The steps to make that happen were slowed down when Trump was voted into office, and the release of the highly anticipated bill was pushed to 2028.
At a White House briefing on Monday, January 25th, Press Secretary, Jen Psaki said “It’s important that our notes…reflect the history and diversity of our country.” Psaki then spoke on the Treasury department’s plan to not only revive but speed up efforts to have the political activist’s picture grace the $20 note.
