Tia Mowry seemingly hinted that there is distance between her and her twin sister Tamera Mowry. According to Us Weekly, a source clarified that “Tia was referring to physical distance between them because of where they both live, not distance between them as it relates to their relationship.”
In a sneak peek for Tia’s upcoming WE TV series Tia Mowry: My Next Act, Tia, 46, can be seen discussing how she’s been handling life alone without her ex-husband or sister in close proximity.
“I came into this world with a twin and right after that, I went into a 22-year relationship so I have never been alone in my life. It has been quite a journey,” the Sister, Sister alum said in the teaser, shared on YouTube.
“Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce,” Tia shared about her 2022 split from Cory Hardrict after 14 years of marriage.
“It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her,” Tia said, adding, “that’s just not where we are right now.”
She added, “I’ve always wanted the family dynamic of having a mom and a dad in one household. When you’re dropping your kids off, you actually visually see how that is no longer.”
The Tia & Tamera star currently lives in California with her two children, son Cree and daughter Cairo, whom she shares with ex-husband Cory Hardrict. She first announced the couple’s separation in October 2022 with a heartfelt Instagram post.
“I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she wrote at the time. “These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children.”
Tia shared she is using this new chapter to relearn and reprioritize herself outside of being married.
“It’s all about thinking about everything from not just your perspective, but the kids’ perspective as well,” Tia told Us in November 2023. “I feel like that’s where kids definitely become a priority and focus on their peace, their joy, their happiness and what makes them feel at ease and feel comfortable and love. I’m really leaning on love and compassion.”
The actress first rose to household name fame in the 1990s alongside her twin sister Mowry-Housley as one of the most notable twin pairings in Hollywood. They starred together on the ABC breakout sitcom “Sister, Sister,” which aired for six seasons on the network, before pursuing solo careers in film and TV.
