Golf star Tiger Woods is facing an additional citation following a rollover crash that led to his recent arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Court records filed this week show Woods received a non-criminal citation for careless driving. The citation stems from a March 27 crash in Martin County, Florida.

Authorities say Woods, 50, attempted to pass a truck at high speed. His vehicle struck a trailer and flipped onto its side.

The crash caused property damage but no reported injuries.

Crash details and investigation

Law enforcement officers responding to the scene observed signs of impairment, according to arrest reports. Officials said Woods showed “signs of impairment” during field sobriety testing.

Body camera footage released this week captured Woods speaking with deputies after the crash. He told officers he had been distracted moments before impact.

“I looked down at my phone,” Woods said, according to footage cited in reports.

Deputies also noted physical symptoms including sluggish movement and glassy eyes.

A breath test showed no alcohol in his system. However, Woods refused a urine test at the scene.

Authorities later reported finding prescription medication in his possession.

Woods has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges involving property damage.

The careless driving citation carries a fine and does not require a court appearance.

The latest citation adds to a series of legal challenges following the crash. Woods was initially arrested at the scene and later released on bail.

In a public statement, Woods acknowledged the seriousness of the situation.

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” Woods said.

“I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.”

He added, “I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place.”

Woods has indicated he will step away from golf as he undergoes treatment.

The 15-time major champion has faced previous injuries and setbacks in recent years. This latest incident raises further questions about his future in the sport.

His next court appearance related to the DUI case is expected later this year.

For now, the additional citation marks another development in an ongoing legal process following a crash that has drawn national attention.
