Charlie Woods, son of 15-time major champion Tiger Woods, has verbally committed to play golf at Florida State, one of the strongest collegiate men’s gold programs in the nation.

The 17-year old announced the news in a social post on Tuesday (Feb 10), writing “Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University — go Noles!”

Dad Tiger commented under the post writing, “Congratulations Charlie. I’m so proud of you on entering this next chapter of your life.”

Tiger has 82 professional wins, tied with Sam Snead for the most ever. Fifteen of those victories have come in majors, and his last major win was an unforgettable 2019 Masters.

Charlie is a junior at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, which won a state title last fall as Woods carded a team-best 68.

Per Golf Digest, he currently ranks 21st among all classes in the American Junior Golf Association’s individual standings. Charlie’s junior golf accomplishments are highlighted by a win at last year’s AJGA Team TaylorMade Invitational and his T-9 in the Boys’ Junior PGA Championship.

In the summer of 2024, he qualified to compete at the U.S. Junior Amateur but failed to make the cut.

With Charlie’s new school selected, he can expect to land a signifcant NIL deal with Florida State Seminoles.

He is slated to team with No. 1-ranked junior Miles Russell, who committed to Florida State in June. Official signing day will come in November.

The Florida State men’s golf pipeline under coach Trey Jones has included Brooks Koepka, Daniel Berger and Luke Clanton in recent years. The Seminoles finished in ninth place at last spring’s NCAA Championship, one stroke shy of match play.

Tiger shares Charlie and his 18 year old daughter, Sam Alexis Woods, with his ex wife, Elin Nordegren.
