In a recent interview, Tameka “Tiny” Harris of Xscape shared that The Notorious B.I.G. apologized for dissing the group just minutes before his untimely death.

A Long-Awaited Apology from Biggie

In Biggie’s 1994 track “Just Playing (Dreams),” he rapped, “I’ll f*** RuPaul before I f*** them ugly-ass Xscape bitches,” a line that offended the R&B group. Following the song’s release, Biggie attempted to apologize multiple times, but the group declined to meet with him. “There was a couple of times after the ‘Dreams’ song that we had a couple of shows, and Jermaine [Dupri] would be like, ‘Yo, Biggie wants to see y’all. He wants to talk to y’all.’ And, you know, some of the girls were like, ‘No,’” Tiny explained during an interview with DJ Vlad.

However, at a Vibe party in March 1997, Biggie approached the group again. “Someone came to us, and said Biggie wanted to speak to us. Kandi [Burruss] was like, ‘I’m not going over there. I don’t wanna talk to him.’ So I was just like, ‘I’ll go over there.’ So I went,” Tiny recounted.

A Final Conversation

During their brief conversation, Biggie expressed remorse for his previous comments. “He basically apologized for saying that, that he thought we were beautiful,” Tiny said. “He was like, ‘I’m an ugly motherf***er, and I ain’t had no business talking about nobody,’ you know. We laughed and we hugged or whatever, and it was all good.”

Tragically, just 30 minutes after this exchange, Biggie was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting. Reflecting on the encounter, Tiny expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reconcile. “I just felt like I was just glad that I got a chance to, like, even say anything, and speak. And he got a chance to tell me how he felt, he apologized and it went all good,” she shared.

Kandi Burruss later expressed regret for not speaking with Biggie that night. “I felt like crap, I felt horrible,” she admitted. “I guess that is a definite moment where you realize you tend to hold on to things that are really not that serious and then something happens to the person and you really aren’t able to talk [to them].”
