Tracy Morgan is on the road promoting season 2 of his TBS comedy, The Last OG, and stopped by the set of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night.
When Fallon asked Morgan about his new gig on Empire, the comedian didn’t hesitate to drop a few jokes about Jussie Smollett.
“Well, contractually they’re giving me millions of dollars, and contractually all I have to do is not fake a hate crime…Jussie,” Tracy said before snickering and sitting with a cynical blank stare. “First of all, racist people don’t be jumping nobody in a polar vortex. Racists don’t be watching Empire — it’s too cold. They say, ‘We’ll be racist in the spring.’”
He continued with his Jussie jokes, “It was like 10 seconds of footage and then he disappears for two seconds then he reappears with a noose around his neck, still holding a Subway sandwich. He ain’t let that Subway sandwich go. I think it was pepperoni and cheese.”
Fallon and Morgan moved on to talk about recent advice Tracy gave to Michael Che about being a stand-up comedian versus being a comic, and of course Tracy’s wife, who’s 18 years his junior.
