Travis Scott was hit with a lawsuit by boat charter employees following a highly publicized June 2024 altercation at the Miami Beach Marina. While several chargers were dropped by prosecutors, the civil suit takes the legal battle a step further.
According to TMZ, crew members allege that an intoxicated Scott became irate and physically assaulted multiple yacht workers after being denied permission to use jet skis. He is also accused of verbally threatening the captain.
The crew alleges that Scott refused to disembark, pushed and struck the captain. Also, he’s accused of terrorizing the staff, prompting the crew to barricade themselves in a room until police arrived.
Boat captain Adrian Frometa and charter managers John Steve Holguin and Mirnesa Hasanovic filed the lawsuit.
Bradford Cohen, the attorney who represented Scott on the criminal charges in this case, released a statement to XXL.
”We’re currently not representing Mr. Scott on this frivolous civil lawsuit. We very clearly beat all the criminal charges that were filed against Mr. Scott that evening because they had no basis in law or fact. He was never charged, nor was he even accused of a battery that evening. He was arrested for Disorderly Intox. and Trespassing. This case is nothing more than an attempt at a money grab, and I believe they will not be successful. In fact, I would counter sue for the breach of contract by the Capt. , crew and owner of the yacht.”
The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages for assault, battery, and false imprisonment. In response, Scott’s legal team has fiercely pushed back, labeling the lawsuit a “money grab” and threatening a countersuit for breach of contract.
Scott is no stranger to lawsuits. In 2021, he faced hundreds of civil lawsuits stemming from the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas, of the same year. During the incident, a crowd crush resulted in ten deaths and hundreds of injuries.
