Trina Braxton is charting a new course in her career, revealing the motivation behind her recent entry into the real-estate world. The 50-year-old says she pursued her license in December 2024 and is fully committed to the field.
“Now I can get out there and I can do my job with anybody else,” she told People. “Put my bootstraps on, I’m ready.”
Trina added, “I am still a real estate agent … I’m not going to allow myself to be pigeonholed into something that I do enjoy.”
From Entertainment to Entrepreneurship
Trina is best known as one of the sisters from the vocal group and reality-TV franchise The Braxtons. But she stressed her real-estate career isn’t merely a side project of her celebrity persona. “I think it’s a little different for me … I have to decipher through … ‘Oh my gosh, is this really Trina?’ I’m like, ‘Dude, you trying to buy or what?’” she explained.
Her first home showing played out on the show’s second season as well — with actor Faizon Love as her client. “He just broke the ice for me,” Trina said. “And it was like, ‘If I can do this with a person who’s close to me … I can still do an amazing job as a professional.’ ”
That moment gave her fresh confidence to work in this industry apart from her television identity.
Rather than view this shift as a temporary venture, Trina sees real estate as a strategic pivot with staying power. “If We TV decided tomorrow, ‘Well, we’re going to cancel the show,’ … I am still a real estate agent,” she said. “And I am also going to be licensed in culinary arts.”
She also noted that she chooses work “from which I cannot be ‘canceled’,” citing both real estate and the culinary world among her passions.
Trina acknowledged the learning curve: “It’s been challenging but fun.” She emphasized that connecting with new clients and building trust are central to her satisfaction in the work.
The transition has had its quirks. Trina admits her celebrity background brings unusual obstacles, such as calls from fans seeking autographs rather than property advice. She laughed that sometimes she still has to ask, “Are you buying or what?”
But she also highlighted the fulfillment she gets from showing homes and helping people find a place they can call their own. “I enjoy it more than singing,” she said in another recent interview.
As the new season of The Braxtons unfolds on WE tv, Trina’s real-estate endeavors offer a fresh storyline alongside family reconnections and personal growth. Her goal: to build a career that outlasts any single show. “I look toward the future,” she said.
