After a photo of a billboard calling for Tyler Perry’s attention surfaced on the internet, actress Racquel Bailey is now starring in his newest series.
Bailey paid around $2,000 for two billboards, located near Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. Perry addressed the viral photo and told aspiring actors “please don’t do this.” He captioned the photo, “Auhhh…. soooooo…… here’s the deal. This is not the way to get my attention if you’re looking for a role in one of my shows,” he wrote. “Please DON’T DO THIS, SAVE YOUR MONEY!! This is the third time that someone has done this. PLEASE STOP! To audition is FREE!! I’m sure you can use that money for a better purpose.”
Despite Perry’s initial reaction to the billboards, Bailey was able to land a recurring role Perry’s upcoming BET series “Sistas.”
Bailey told TMZ, “This was my leap of faith. When I put up the billboard, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know what was going to happen!”
The new series surrounds a group of women, who bond over the fact that they’re all single. Reportedly, “the women will bond over their complicated love lives, careers and friendships while dealing with the world of social media and unrealistic relationship goals.
