Ulta Beauty and Target will be parting ways.

Reports state that the beauty brand will not renew its shop-in-shop partnership with Target, which is set to expire in August 2026.

Their partnership began in 2021, and it quickly became a huge perk for shoppers who could link their rewards accounts together. After the split, Target is set to develop its in-store beauty department while Ulta Beauty will launch its online marketplace, Ulta Beauty Marketplace.

The marketplace is set to open this fall and will feature products that are not found in stores. “For 35 years, Ulta Beauty has revolutionized how people experience beauty — bringing together an unmatched assortment from mass to luxury — and our partnership with Target was one of many unique ways we have brought the power of beauty to guests nationwide,” Amiee Bayer-Thomas, chief retail officer for Ulta Beauty, said in a press release.

Rick Gomez, Target EVP and CCO, said, “We look forward to what’s ahead and remain committed to offering the beauty experience consumers have come to expect from Target – one centered on an exciting mix of beauty brands with continuous newness, all at an unbeatable value.”

This news comes after we reported that Target’s CEO Brian Cornwell will be stepping down from his role after 11 years.
