Tameka Foster, the former wife of Usher, was reportedly arrested over a car insurance issue last summer and the recorded exchanged has been released.
In new body cam footage obtained by TMZ, Foster can be seen having a friendly run-in with law enforcement. The video shows Foster exchanging casual banter and a few laughs with a Brookhaven Police Department officer.
On an Instagram Live, Foster, 55 candidly clarified the arrest with her followers. She explained that she was pulled over last summer for a lapse in insurance on her company car, a problem she quickly fixed.
“I was driving down Peachtree on my way home. And, all of a sudden, I saw an officer just driving behind me. You know, they just driving while black kind of thing. I hadn’t done shit.” She continued, “I wasn’t speeding. I didn’t make an illegal turn or nothing. So, I got pulled over. It was just like license registration. No problem. Gave him all the stuff. Then, he said, well, do you know? It shows that your insurance is not current.”
Foster added that she didn’t know she had to go in-person to court to address the mishap. “I said, well, I didn’t know that. But, no problem. I can fix it. You know, whatever. I’ll fix it tomorrow. When they open. Did that. But, what I didn’t know is that when you get a ticket for not having insurance, you have to actually go in person to court to tell the judge that you got insurance.”
That missed court date reportedly triggered a warrant for her arrest. Foster was eventually arrested moments after de-boarding a plane from St. Barts.
“They came to my actual aircraft, paged my name on the loudspeaker… So, my heart stopped like, oh, my God, what are they going to say? I definitely didn’t think they were going to say. I, Tamika Foster Raymond, had a warrant for failing to appear.”
She concluded the live encouraging her viewers to “handle your business, stay on point, make sure all your i’s a dotted and t’s are crossed.”
