Basketball legends Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady have officially joined the Buffalo Bills ownership group as limited partners. The announcement, confirmed during the NFL winter meetings, marks a historic moment for the franchise, as Carter and McGrady become the first minority stakeholders in the Bills’ storied history.
Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady Joining Bills’ Ownership Group
“It’s a huge honor to join this historic Bills organization,” said Carter, an eight-time NBA All-Star and Hall of Famer. “I’m truly thankful the Pegula family has given me the opportunity to help the franchise continue to grow and thrive in player growth, community service, and, of course, winning the Lombardi trophy. See you soon, Bills Mafia!”
Carter’s cousin and fellow Hall of Famer, Tracy McGrady, shared his excitement. “I’m excited to share that I’ve joined the Buffalo Bills organization as a minority owner—a dream come true for me and my family,” McGrady said. “Sports have been a lifelong passion, and the chance to contribute to such a top-tier organization is a true honor. After meeting the Pegulas, understanding their vision, embracing their values, and sharing their commitment to winning, this decision felt natural. I’m incredibly proud to be part of this journey.”
The Bills’ majority owners, Terry and Kim Pegula, retain 79% control of the team, but the addition of diverse limited partners is seen as a strategic move. Carter and McGrady’s ties to Toronto, where they played for the NBA’s Raptors, are expected to strengthen the franchise’s connection with Canadian fans. Southern Ontario residents already make up over 15% of the Bills’ season-ticket base.
Terry Pegula expressed optimism about the changes. “Our limited partners bring unique experiences and insights to the table. I believe their involvement will help us build on our mission to win and grow.”
Other notable investors include MLS champion Jozy Altidore, venture capital leaders, and successful businesswomen. Pegula emphasized the importance of diversity in ownership, saying, “Having female investors and diverse perspectives strengthens our organization.”
With these additions, the Bills position themselves not just as a competitive football team but as a model of inclusive growth and innovation in the NFL.
