Can you picture Julia Roberts as African American abolitionist and political activist, Harriet Tubman?
According to Gregory Allen Howard, a screenwriter suggested that actress Julia Roberts would be the perfect person to play the role in the new biopic.
“This script is fantastic. Let’s get Julia Roberts to play Harriet Tubman,” Gregory Allen Howard claims the executive said. That’s according to an interview for Focus Features, which produced “Harriet.”
Howard did not name the screenwriter, however when someone pointed out this would be an issue, the screenwriter allegedly says:
“It was so long ago. No one is going to know the difference.”
Folks caught wind of the interview and took to social media to expressed their thoughts on Julia playing Harriet.
What? I can’t. It’s to early for this.
