Community Leader Writes Book to Provoke Thoughtful Conversation with Kids
Kenneth Braswell is changing the conversations that parents have with their for the better. Braswell is an author who writes books that encourage the discussion of modern problems that exist in our communities today.
His book Daddy, There's A Noise Outside, provides guidelines for parents to explain protesting injustices in their community. Braswell says that this book "served it's purpose to elevate and stimulate a conversation with parents and their children around the notion of protest."
Braswell was inspired to write books that centered around this topic when his 6 year old son asked "What's protesting?", and Braswell realized he did not have an appropriate answer to give. Braswell writes in a 'conversational' style, to make the reader feel as if they are sitting next to him as he writes, also allowing the book the ability to be applicable to a multitude of situations.
Aside from writing, Braswell is the executive director of Fathers Incorporated, which is the leading not-for profit organization in promoting responsible fatherhood. Braswell is also the director of President Obama's National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse, which is a funded national resource for backing strong fathers and families.
