Wendy Williams has been granted permission to visit her father for his 94th birthday amid a guardianship battle.
A judge granted her request after it was brought up during an emotional interview Williams did last month. The TV host was granted two days away from New York to fly to Miami to celebrate with her father.
“I don’t know if I’m going to be able to see my dad on his 94th birthday,” she said during the interview. “The day after that is not promised.” Williams will be accompanied by private security.
Wendy Williams has been in guardianship since May 2022 and has revealed that it has been emotionally abusive. “I am not cognitively impaired, but I feel like I am in prison,” she said in another part of the interview. “I am definitely isolated. To talk to these people who live here, that is not my cup of tea.”
She added that she can’t leave the facility or have any visitors. Fans began to express their concern about her current situation and asked why was she still under her guardianship.
“I keep the door closed, I watch TV. I listen to the radio. I watch the window. I sit here, and my life goes by.”
