Whoopi Goldberg brought Anne Hathaway to tears with her kind words.
On the latest episode of The View, Hathaway appeared to talk about her new film, The Odyssey. Goldberg then shared how proud she is of Hathaway’s success.
“Anne Hathaway, it’s been wonderful watching you,” the host said. “It’s been wonderful watching you grow up. And you have just blossomed, turned into this fabulous actress. Girl!”
”No, don’t,” Hathaway said as she covered her face to hide her emotions. “Yes, you need to know!”Goldberg responded.
Hathaway then said she was overcome with emotion because she’s pregnant.
“Well, it’s something you need to know and remember,” Goldberg added.
“I don’t even know what to say, thank you. You know how I feel about you,” she said.
Goldberg went on to laud Matt Damon, saying, “I have adored you since the first second I met you, at the Oscars.”
“I know you know my family because they lived around the corner from y’all, and you feel like home,” Goldberg continued. “Thank you for always being upright and great, and fabulous in what you do.”
She then told the audience to check out their upcoming film.
“Do yourselves a favor and go see this movie!”
Christopher Nolan’s epic feature film The Odyssey adapts Homer’s ancient Greek poem into a visceral, non-linear survival spectacle. The story centers on Odysseus (Matt Damon), the King of Ithaca, who embarks on a 10-year journey across the Mediterranean after the fall of Troy. Racked with trauma and remorse over the brutality of the Trojan War, Odysseus and his remaining men must navigate a gauntlet of mythical horrors.
Meanwhile, back on Ithaca, his devoted wife Penelope (Hathaway) and growing son Telemachus (Tom Holland) fight off a predatory horde of suitors scheming to claim his throne and kingdom.
The Odyssey is currently in theaters.
