Whoopi Goldberg says because of all the bills she has, she cant afford to retire.

The host of The View explained why she doesn’t see herself retiring any time soon while talking to Entertainment Tonight in an interview published Tuesday.

“I can’t afford to retire,” Goldberg, who’s served as a co-host of the daytime television show for 18 season, said. “If you don’t marry well, you got to keep working.”

The Oscar winner, who’s been married three times, has been vocal in recent years about preferring to stay single. “Not yet. I gotta keep paying those bills, baby,” added the star, who turns 70 in November.

Fellow cohost Joy Behar echoed Goldberg’s sentiment, saying, “Creative people don’t retire, they don’t resign, they just keep going.”

This isn’t the first time Goldberg has talked about staying in the game for financial reasons.

In fact, the actor received significant pushback last year when she told her fellow panelists, “I work for a living… If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here, OK? So, I’m a working person, you know?

The Sister Act star has been married three times, first to drug counselor Alvin Martin from 1973 to 1979, then to Dutch cinematographer David Claessen from 1986 to 1988 and finally to union organizer Lyle Trachtenberg from 1994 to 1995. She shares her only child, daughter Alexandra, 51, with her first husband.
