Tiger Woods refuses to hire a personal driver.
PEOPLE reported that a source close to the golf legend shared why he won’t procure professional driving services.
Woods “doesn’t want anyone to watch over him or know what he is doing,” the source said. “And he thinks he is fine to drive.”
The source also said that “Woods prefers to keep his life private and dislikes negative attention.”
“He is not a social butterfly and prefers to hang around his home with his kids, or hitting balls, or playing video games,” the source says. “And he despises public scrutiny.”
On Friday, March 27, 2026, Woods was involved in another car accident. His Range Rover SUV rolled over on Jupiter Island, Florida. The accident led to his arrest on charges of driving under the influence.
It occurred around 2:00 p.m. when Woods reportedly attempted to overtake a pickup truck at high speed on a narrow two-lane road. His vehicle clipped the truck’s trailer, causing the SUV to flip onto its side and slide a significant distance. While Woods was able to crawl out of the vehicle unassisted and both drivers remained uninjured, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported that Woods appeared “lethargic” and showed clear signs of impairment at the scene.
Although he passed a breathalyzer test with a 0.00% alcohol reading, Woods refused to submit to a urine test, resulting in a misdemeanor charge for refusal to submit to a lawful test alongside DUI and property damage.
Authorities reported that no drugs were found in the vehicle, and his impairment was likely caused by medication. Following Florida state law, Woods was held for eight hours at the Martin County Jail before being released.

This accident is the latest example of Woods’ troubling history with vehicles, coming almost exactly five years after his devastating 2021 crash in California. It also casts immediate and serious doubt on his ability to participate in the 2026 Masters, which is less than two weeks away.
