Will Smith and his ex-wife Sheree Zampino reunited to celebrate their son Trey Smith’s 33rd birthday.
Sheree and the Smith clan including Will, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and their son, Jaden gathered together to honor Trey.
“Wow! You are 33 Son! What a pure delight and magnificent soul you are! Your light is infectious and the love, grace, and compassion that you live & move in is such a beautiful honor, privilege & joy to behold!” Sheree captioned a carousel of images posted to Instagram.
“To say that I am honored to be your Mother would only touch the surface of the depth of my gratitude and love for you! May this 33rd year around the Sun be a portal into another dimension of brilliance & abundance! HAPPY 33rd to The AngO!”
After tying the knot in 1992, Will and Sheree welcomed their first and only child, Willard Carroll “Trey” Smith III. The Men in Black actor says he felt an immediate connection to his son, named after him.
“I brought him home, we put him in the bassinet. … It was like stark terror. I’m totally responsible for this life and I couldn’t stop going and checking. … I just cried so hard. It makes me teary right now,” Will said during an appearance on Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk in 2020.
The pair split in 1995 after Sheree filed for divorce. Trey was 2 years-old.
“Divorce was the ultimate failure for me,” he shared on Red Table Talk. “I’ve been hurt a lot in my adult life, but I don’t think anything touches the failure of getting divorced from my 2-year-old son’s mother. Sheree and I ran into that — if a man’s not a great husband, then he loses his parental rights.”
Will added, “I’m a way better father than I am a husband. In that process, you start fighting for your rights, and the kid is in the middle.”
