Will Smith is definitely an ideal family man but every household goes through their share of ups and downs. During an interview with Haute Living, he talks about the year 2012 being a time of “mutiny.”
During this time, his 18-year-old daughter Willow Smith, who was 12-years-old back then, rebelled against her father while she was on tour for her hit single “Whip My Hair.” Willow didn’t want to be on tour, she didn’t like the lifestyle, but her father insisted that she do it. This is the reason she shaved her head bald.
The article says that Willow was the first to reject his wishes. This hit him hard because she is his youngest child. MN reports, “Because she was the baby girl, she really had the most power over me. As a man ― if your daughter says no, there’s really nothing you can do.”
When Willow shaved her head, that’s when Will realized that his daughter was entirely unhappy. He knew he would have to ease up. The article also reports that Will had strict parents growing up and didn’t want to continue the cycle.
