For the entire month of March, WBLS is recognizing and celebrating women making history. Today we honor a 12-year-old girl was bullied for the color of her skin but found a way to overcome it.

Los Angeles native Kheris Rogers was made fun of because of her dark skin complexion. With the help of her best friend and older sister, she came up with “Flexin’ in My Complexion” in April 2017 as a way to promote confidence in herself and others.

Reported on Buzzfeed, she said her main reason for starting the line was to inspire everyone to love the skin that they are in. She said, “It does not matter if your skin complexion is dark, fair, light, freckled, albino, or even green! You should always love yourself from the inside-out.”

Rogers has always had a passion for fashion. When she was thinking of her own line, she wanted to come out with something that has positive messages. Now with her sister as her manager, Rogers has a booming business and a growing brand.

Most of her clothes have her mantra on it and come in different patterns and colors. She also landed a paid partnership with Walmart and tours around cities to promote her line. Rogers is definitely breaking barriers and changing the game!
