After a six-year divorce battle, it’s finally coming to an end.
Terrence Howard and his ex-wife Michelle Ghent got married in January 2010 and she filed for divorce a year later. In 2013 she was granted a restraining order after she claimed Howard was physically abusive toward her during a trip they took to Costa Rica to reconcile, according to a report.
Now, Los Angeles Judge Helen Zukin said: “this has gone on long enough.” The judge ruled that the ‘Empire’ actor pay Ghent $1.3 million in back spousal support, plus another $1 million for her legal fees.
Howard could have avoided these extra fees if he had paid in 2013. The article says Howard has submitted his income recounted because he’s under criminal investigation. “He is reportedly being investigated for fraud and tax evasion. He wasn’t present in court but his lawyer argued on his behalf that Judge Zukin’s ruling was premature.”
The judge proceeded with her ruling.
Howard reportedly brings in over $125,000 per episode on Empire, and he also had “lengthy roles” on other hit shows and movies.
